Business Assurance Services

The Unisys Real Time Infrastructure comprises the entire environment.  In addition to the physical infrastructure, there is a linkage to the business requirements.  Business Assurance is part of the business’ service-level requirements and is key in maintaining the Business Continuity requirements.  It includes Disaster Recovery as well as System and Data Availability.

On September 15, 2008, Unisys announced three new high level services to address your Business Assurance requirements:

• Disaster Recovery Architecture Service
• Backup Modernization Service
• Data Protection for Backup Service

These services focus on the assessment/discovery and design/planning phases.  The solutions are vendor-independent, based on your needs. Follow-on implementation services can also be provided by Unisys.  Initially these services will be provided only in the UK and North America.

Unisys Disaster Recovery Architecture Service

Provides a solid foundation on which to build end-to-end application and data disaster recovery capabilities. The DR Architecture Service helps clients achieve the appropriate levels of application and infrastructure recoverability in the face of any disaster taking into account your Recovery Point Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).

Through a detailed discovery process, Unisys will develop a customized solution that includes a DR Reference Architecture addressing the business requirements. Once the design is agreed to,  then the second phase of the service begins.  This phase is a planning session that creates a comprehensive implementation plan.  Included in the plan are:

• a precedence diagram of the critical path for the project
• a detailed project plan outlining the steps necessary to implement the DR Solution
• a document describing the project (timelines, strategy, major milestones, phases and description of work being completed in each phase, and the resources needed to complete the project)

Unisys has the proven methodology, knowledge and experience to not only design and plan the DR Solution but also the capability to implement it as part of a follow-up engagement.

Unisys Backup Modernization Service

Helps you make a rational and sound decision for new technologies and services supporting backup infrastructure at core and remote sites. The Backup Modernization Service leverages proven methodology to rationalize and facilitate vendor selection for the modernization and tech-refresh of backup environments.

Service Description:

The realization of a successful vendor choice encompasses two key phases: the Vendor Design Alternative session conducted by a Unisys Principal Consultant at your site and the development of a high level reference architecture.

The Vendor Design Alternative session focuses on answering the technical and process questions of your key stakeholders pertaining to vendors’ designs. Beginning with a two-day facilitated session, Unisys experts will work with your key stakeholders to identify requirements, and review and rationalize vendors’ designs alternatives.

The Unisys team will produce a high level reference architecture that reflects the inputs of all session participants. During a Reference Architecture Presentation, the Unisys team will detail the project finding and will provide your key stakeholders with final recommendations and a high level deployment plan.

Any additional assistance required during the implementation phase, may also be provided by Unisys as a separate engagement.

Unisys Data Protection for Backup Service

Helps you better understand your existing operational environments in order to make educated, immediate and systematic improvements that will directly affect performance and ensure backup recovery.

Utilizing industry knowledge in the backup/recovery environment, Unisys will apply those capabilities to your needs and requirements.  A “Best Practices” view of similar sized clients will be used in creating the prioritized action plan.
