Unisys Appoints David Barnes as Managing Director, ANZ
SYDNEY, 24 September, 2008 – Unisys has appointed David Barnes as Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand. In this role, Mr Barnes will have responsibility for the operations, customer satisfaction and overall financial performance of the Australian and New Zealand business. Mr Barnes will also hold a key operational role within the company’s overall Asia Pacific region.
Originally from Australia, Mr Barnes joins Unisys from SAP where he spent the last seven years in senior leadership roles, the most recent being Chief Operating Officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. His other roles at SAP included Chief Financial Officer in various geographies, including Australia and New Zealand.
Mr Barnes’ career has spanned senior commercial and financial duties for a broad range of companies in Australia, the US and Europe. This has included working in a diverse range of industries such as telecommunications, distribution, corporate travel and recruitment.
“As the leader of the Australian and New Zealand business, David will build on Unisys proven approach and expertise in secure IT services -- from advice to implementation to ongoing support. He will continue the successful strategy of focusing on the financial services, public sector and transportation segments as seen in the new business wins already attained in 2008 including a major Australian bank, Australia Post, ING DIRECT, NSW RailCorp and Vodafone,” said Andrew Barkla, Vice President and General Manager, Unisys Asia Pacific.
Mr Barnes is based in Sydney and reports to Andrew Barkla. He has a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology, Sydney.
